With funding from Nike Foundation and USAID amongst others, this accelerator initiative supported SMEs that sought to develop nutritious products that supported adolescents. Each SME submitted a proposal for a $ 1m grant of concepts that could deliver on nutrition plus have the potential for scalability. One of the beneficiaries sought to develop “breakfast packages” that spoke to mothers and young people; the package had an on-the-go beverage plus a protein cereal bar. Using Human-Centered Design (HCD) approaches, qualitative studies were carried out with 80 adolescents and 30 mothers to test the concept. The deliverable was a detailed report to inform grant disbursement
